FBDA Design and Budget

General Introduction to the FBDA System Designer

The purpose of this programme is to allow process designers and estimators to produce outline designs and budget estimates for fine bubble aeration systems, allowing rapid evaluation of competing processes and options.
The programme can currently handle ceramic and membrane disc diffusers in rectangular tanks, and requires the following inputs...
    1. SOTR (Standard Oxygen Transfer Rate) in kg/hour.
    2. Dimensions of the aeration tanks, number of lanes and zones.
    3. Oxygen demand taper.

In selecting the number of diffusers for an aeration system, designers must chose between a low efficiency system with a small number of diffusers passing a large volume of air or visa versa. We recommend users select systems with higher efficiencies (e.g. in the range 3-4 kg/kWh) as these normally have far better payback rates.
